Preparation
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside, leaving the bacon fat for flavor.
- Add the lean ground beef to the same skillet and brown it over medium heat until fully cooked, around 8-10 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic with the beef and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Pour the marinara sauce into the beef mixture and stir well to combine. Let simmer for a couple of minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with half of the Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a baking dish, layer marinara sauce, noodles, half the cheese mixture, beef mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top. Bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
